Who We Are

Comprised of parents and professionals, Newark SEPAC is an advocacy organization for Newark Public School students who receive special education services. We provide information, parent/caregiver development, educational opportunities, resources and support to families and professionals striving to achieve the maximum benefit for all children within our community.​

We provide a platform where parents and district representatives meet to identify and discuss systemic issues that affect children with special needs within the Newark Public School district and to propose solutions for them.

Our Mission

is to serve students receiving special education services from Newark Public Schools and their families by engaging parents, gathering data and advocating for policy enforcement and improvements to ensure excellence in education for all.

To provide meaningful input to the Superintendent of  Schools, and the Newark Board of Education regarding parent concerns related to special education;

 

To foster communication between Newark SEPAC members and local, state and national  organizations and agencies to identify and replicate best practices;

 

To promote a network of parents and caregivers to foster peer support, information sharing, and collaborative advocacy efforts ;

 

To foster  understanding, acceptance and inclusion of children of all disabilities.
